Our Scale Block Whole House Scale Inhibitors are a powerful limescale prevention system for your home. Utilising a cutting-edge technology called template-assisted crystallisation (TAC) which independent tests show to be 99.6% as effective as a water softener for preventing limescale build-up. Unlike traditional water softeners, these systems do not require a power supply or regular salt top-ups and the treated water retains its healthy minerals, keeping it safe for drinking.

Installation Info

These systems are suitable for the feed to an entire property, or a single outlet at the point of use. Supplied with filter housing, pre-filled filter cartridge, wall bracket and screws ready for connection to your pipework. Soldering or cutting of existing pipework may be required for installation.

Note that for installations where new copper pipework is used, the system must be bypassed for at least 4 weeks to prevent contamination of the filter cartridge. Refer to the product manual for more information.

Filter Lifespan
For single appliance systems (SB10-SL) the cartridge should be replaced annually. For larger systems (SB10-BB & SB20-BB) the cartridge needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. There will be signs that the cartridge needs replacing such as scale formation on taps or shower heads.

Salt-Free Water Softener Alternative

As a reliable, salt-free alternative to a water softener these scale block systems provide a ‘fit-and-forget’ solution to preventing limescale build-up in your pipework, boiler and appliances. Much like a water softener, they work to clear existing limescale deposits over time – requiring very little maintenance thanks to a lifespan of up to 3 years for whole-house applications or 1 year for point-of-use (such as feeding a single tap). After this period the filter cartridge can be easily changed, with replacement cartridges costing less on average than running a traditional water softener.

How Does The Scale Block Work?
These scale inhibitors work using TAC technology, where limescale-forming molecules such as calcium and magnesium are stuck together to form inactive crystals which are no longer able to form a hard scale. The chemistry of your water remains unchanged, meaning you can enjoy mineral-rich drinking water without the associated problems of hard water. This technology is the first effective salt and chemical-free limescale prevention method, independently tested to be 99.6% as effective as a water softener at preventing limescale build-up on heating elements.

How Long Does The Filter Cartridge Last?
For single appliance systems (SB10-SL) the cartridge should be replaced annually. For larger systems (SB10-BB & SB20-BB) the cartridge needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. There will be signs that the cartridge needs replacing such as scale formation on taps or shower heads.

Please note if new copper pipework is used on the feed then the system needs to be passivized for a minimum of 4 weeks before installation
