Our Manual Backwashing Vessels are an effective alternative to automated backwashing systems, allowing for installation in remote locations without access to a power supply. The backwash process is controlled manually by turning the handle from the service to backwash position, with the ability to be configured as up-flow or down-flow. These systems are supplied empty with riser and distribution system, ready to be filled with your choice of media, such as granular activated carbon or pH correction media.

Choosing Vessel Size

Choose a vessel size based on the available space and the media volume required. Measurements for the vessels are given in inches (diameter x height) and the volume of each vessel in litres. The volume of media required for each vessel will vary depending on your choice of media.

MANUAL BACKWASHING VESSELS

Manually Operated Backwashing

Manual backwashing vessels allow you to change the direction of flow through the media, backwashing it to remove sediment, bacteria and debris. Supplied as a partially assembled kit with Runxin F56A manual backwashing valve (1″ BSP). base seal ring, three 1” washers, riser tube, distribution system and an empty water treatment vessel. The empty vessel can be filled with your choice of media depending on the application (such as pH correction or water softening). Vessels are available in many sizes from 38.9L to 250L in capacity.

How Often Do I Need To Perform A Backwash?
The backwash frequency depends on the media you choose to fill the vessel with. As an example for carbon and pH correction media, we would recommend performing a backwash once every 3-7 days depending on the quality of the feed water.
