DOMESTIC UV SYSTEMS
Drinking Water Sterilisation
UV treatment is a popular technology for making biologically unsafe water safe to drink, requiring very little electricity and maintenance to operate. Treating water with a UV destroys bacteria and microbes without the addition of chemicals such as chlorine. Our domestic UV range is manufactured in the EU by Sita UV using quality components to deliver a high UV dosage rate of 30mj/cm² well above the minimum requirement of 16mj/cm². Each UV bulb has an estimated lifespan of 9,000 working hours (375 days) with a built in ‘days run’ indicator so you know how long your bulb has been in service.
Do I Need Any Pre-Treatment Up Front Of The UV?
To prevent shadowing it is important to ensure water is particulate-free before entering your UV system. Shadowing is caused when particulate passes through the chamber, giving bacteria somewhere to hide from the UV light and can lead to improper treatment of your water. To prevent this from happening we suggest the use of a 5 micron pre-filter.
How Often Do I Need To Replace The UV Bulb?
UV bulbs should be replaced annually. It is also recommended to clean and inspect the quartz sleeve every 3-6 months and replace if damaged.
