BACKWASHING CARBON FILTERS

Chlorine, Colour & Organics

Backwashing carbon filters are the go-to solution for high flow rate carbon filtration, where a traditional filter cartridge will not achieve the required flow rate. This makes them especially popular for use with private water supplies, to remove several contaminants such as chlorine, heavy metals and VOC’s. The ability to backwash the carbon bed provides a much longer lifespan than their cartridge equivalents, giving a service life of 3-5 years depending on water quality.

Each system is supplied partially assembled with some of the valve programming already complete, meaning that some assembly will be required on site. Systems come as standard with a Pentair Clack WS1 control valve, with 1” inlet and outlet.

How Often Do I Need To Replace The Carbon In These Backwashing Carbon Filters?
It is recommended to replace the carbon media on average every 3-5 years depending on water quality. If you start to notice chlorine breakthrough or the carbon media feels slimy, it should be replaced sooner.
